چکیده

In this paper, a comparative investigation of different random modulation schemes against the normal pulsewidth modulation (PWM) for the DC motor drive with step-down chopper (buck) and half-bridge configuration is presented. For this purpose, an experimental setup with DSP2 board has been developed. The board consists of the signal processor TMS320C32 which is suitable for verifying the different modulations strategies. The effectiveness of randomization on spreading the dominating frequencies that normally exist in constantfrequency PWM schemes is evaluated by the power spectral density (PSD) estimations in the low-frequency range. Finally, one universal demo board with two power converters configuration (driven by the micro controller PICF16F876) has been used in EMI measurements to comply with the CISPR 25 (or EN 55025) regulations.

Reduction of Conducted Perturbations in DC-DC Voltage Converters by a Dual Randomized PWM Scheme

Randomized Pulse Width Modulation (RPWM) deals better than Deterministic PWM (DPWM) with Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) standards for conducted Electro-Magnetic Interferences (EMI). In this paper, we propose a dual RPWM scheme for DC-DC voltage converters: the buck converter and the full bridge converter. This scheme is based on the comparison of deterministic reference signals (one signa...

EMI Reduction by Spread-Spectrum Clocking in Digitally-Controlled DC-DC Converters

This paper proposes spread-spectrum clock modulation algorithms for EMI reduction in digitally-controlled DC-DC converters. In switching regulators using PWM, switching noise and harmonic noise concentrated in a narrow spectrum around the switching frequency can cause severe EMI. Spread-spectrum clock modulation can be used to minimize EMI. In conventional switching regulators using analog cont...

Reducing Electromagnetic Interference in DC-DC Converters with Chaos Control

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) resulting from high rates of changes of voltage and current, impairing other devices’ performance and harming human being’s health, has become a major concern in designing direct current (DC-DC) converters for a long time due to the increasingly wide applications of various electrical and electronic devices in industry and daily life. Thus, the question of how...
